Besides promoting the advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support, members of The Ninety-Nines are known for their commitment to each other, and in developing and nurturing friendships that will last a lifetime. One of the ways that our chapter encourages this relationship-building is through our Lunch with the Bunch gatherings every 4th Wednesday of the month, a tradition for over twenty years. Rotating among different airport restaurants in the Delaware Valley, the Lunch with the Bunch event is a great way to foster casual interaction among members that may or may not have an aviation theme. In the past year, our luncheons have been held at the Flying Machine at Chester County’s Carlson Airport (MQS), T. Burk restaurant at Smoketown Airport (S37), Butter Valley Golf Port (7N8), Triton Bar and Grill at Cecil County Airport (58M), the Farmhouse Restaurant near New Garden Airport (N57), the Lone Star Steakhouse near New Castle Airport (ILG), and Klingers at Reading Airport (RDG). Chapter members are encouraged to either fly in or drive in, depending upon weather. Kate Macario has organized and coordinated these luncheons for two decades, and we hope that she will continue to plan these events for many more years.
